A well needed update
Annas pleading in my last post made me ‘ta mig själv i kragen’, as we say in swedish, and actually write another post!
So! What has happened since 20th of august?
Well, august ended in a kick-off with my new job at Benzler. We left from Sweden on thursday 30th of august and returned on sunday 2nd of september. The things to recap from that trip is that Hungary, and especially Budapest, is really nice! And that some of the people at Benzler really know how to party!
On the third day, saturday, we were going to have our only meeting, which would begin at 8.30 am and end around 2 pm. I woke up at 9 am, with a shock, and in a speed that would have left a velociraptor spinning, I rushed around preparing myself for the meeting! I arrived at the meeting room around 9.25, because the room was hard to find! I had to go to floor 3, and there cross over to the next building over a bridge and then go down a floor! As if the navigation itself wasn’t hard enough, I was still not sober from the partying from last night.
I decided to enter the room from the back door, and try to quietly sneak in. Unfortunately it was the front door. And there, at the front of the room, stood our MD (VD in Swedish) and talked to the masses. Even more unfortunate was that he stood in the aisle, so I couldn’t get into the rest of the room, and had to ask him to step to the side! Then I tried to quietly sneak to the back of the room and take a seat there. Half way through the room I realised that all the seats in the room were taken, except for a few in the front row! Ah, the humiliation and shame I felt! Every eye in the room on me! I made som half baked excuse and got some merry laughters from my co-workes, who too had been up and partying way late!
I was saved by the fact that our MD has humor. He was going to talk between 1-2pm, the last part of the meeting, and he started with saying: “This is the only time as an MD you feel you’re in total control, because now I’m the only one standing between you and the bar!”. You in this context addressing all of the people, not specifically me
So, that’s that about the trip!
On 11th of september I finished my work at Kanal Lokal. It ended well! I’ll miss some of the co-workers, but not the job in itself! And on 14th of september I started my new job as consultant on Benzler. I’m going to work with older hardware, and with sales and a little as system administrator and backup manager.
So far the job gives far more satisfaction in itself than my last one! And the colleagues are very nice too! We’re 4 people from Benzler in our office, and 3 people from Manix, a company we share some projects with. So essentially we’re 7 people. And the office itself is located at the bank of Stångån, the “river” flowing through Linköping. It’s so beautiful! Well worth visiting if you’re in the neighbourhood! Runstensgatan 5 is the address. Behind Tekniska Verken.
I’ve had a really hectic month, and also started Facebooking! Facebook is great for me, since it’s the only community that I’ve so far tried that has people from almost all my groups of friends! Even old friends from college and grad school pop up there. Fascinating!
Besides that I’ve been on a date with a guy from Stockholm. We’re going to date again on sunday, when he comes to Linköping to visit me. That’ll be swell
My calendar has been really full with events and stuff:

In between all this I try to manage aikido training also, which is on tuesdays, wednesdays, fridays and sundays, and the occasional visit to a friend!
Now then! Time to go to bed!
